Kimberly Alarcon, 37, gave birth to her twin daughters, Kenzy and Kenzley, via cesarean section at Westchester Medical Center on Monday. The rate of spontaneous triplets of twins is 1 in 200,000, according to Today. She told the magazine: ‘Our house is filled with love. We have good days, we have bad days, just like any other family. We just take it one day at a time.’
Alacron had three children of her own before she became pregnant with her first twins. Three years later, she had another set. In 2021, she learned she was pregnant with triplets, but she miscarried one of the babies during her early pregnancy and gave birth to another set of twins, Kenzy and Kenzley. She and her husband, John, are also raising one of their nephews, and now have a total of 10 children following their latest arrivals. The couple’s youngest twins join Brittney, 17, Sarah, 13, ʜᴜɴᴛer, 10, Zachary, 6, Zoey, 6, Olivia, 4, Oliver, 4, and King, 3.
Alacron is no stranger to having a full house. Her mother has a total of 18 children – 10 biological children and 8 adopted children. She told Today that they also had friends who came to their house the whole time she was growing up. “Sometimes we had more than 30 kids at once,” she recalls. The mother continued the tradition of having a house full of children with her detective husband, who grew up with an older brother and always wanted a big family.
According to Medical News Today, being over 30 years old, being taller or heavier, and a family history of having twins from the same mother are all factors that increase the Oᴅᴅs of having twins without fertility ᴅʀᴜɢs.
Dr Angela Silber, head of fetal ᴍᴇᴅɪᴄɪɴᴇ at Westchester Medical Center, said: ‘But three sets of twins leaning back against each other without medication or any other intervention is very unusual. ‘That was amazing.’ Alacron introduced her newborn daughters on Instagram on Thursday, the day the whole family is expected to be discharged. She shared a sweet photo of the girls fast asleep on a hospital bed wearing matching peach onesies.
She wrote: “They are our last addition and made our tribe a solid 10. They were born 4/25/22. My first cesarean. They were punctured and it was a tough pregnancy but thank God we made it through. ”
The mom shared that Kenzy is older by three minutes, and she weighed 4 pounds, 15 ounces when she was born. Her little sister, Kenzley, was slightly heavier at 5 pounds, 9 ounces.
She added: ‘Kenzy and Kenzley started their journey as a trio but unfortunately while at the doctor’s office I miscarried who I believe was my boy Kent. God gives us what he knows we can handle so yes we will love him and remember him.’ Alacron’s daughters are only four days old, but she shared that they have been developing their own personalities.
She said: “So far Kenzy has been our milkmaid. She plays no games with her feedings while Kenzley is taking her place as the youngest and baby of our tribe.”
