A mum who struggled with fertility issues for years has shared the gobsmacking moment a doctor told her she was pregnant with quadruplets.
A woman from Australia has opened up about becoming a mum-of-five after struggling with her fertility for years.
Natalie Maree, 30, from Roebourne in Western Australia, and her husband Kahn struggled for years before having their first daughter Kiki, two, so were shocked to find out they were expecting once more.
Speaking to That’s Life, she said: “Squinting at the fuzzy screen, I spotted two sacs. ‘Twins!’ I squealed, pointing.”
The young mum said her ‘jaw dropped’ when she found out she was expecting quadruplets during the routine sonography scan.
When the sonographer told her she was wrong, she asked if she was having triplets.
“But slowly the sonographer shook his head. Then, without a word, he held up four fingers!” she continued, adding that her husband, Kahn, ‘almost passed out’.
Natalie gave birth to the quadruplets via 𝐶-𝑠𝑒𝑐𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 at 34 weeks, following months of weekly scans to check the babies health
The quads, Maioha Kahn (2.3kg), Frankee Gene (1.92kg), Marley Rose (2.2kg) and Maddison Grace (2.1kg) were born on July 21 within the space of minutes.
Now, the mum-of-five regularly shares life updates on an 𝐼𝑛𝑠𝑡𝑎𝑔𝑟𝑎𝑚 account she created post-birth named Kiki and the 𝑄𝑢𝑎𝑑𝑠, where she details life as a mum to five kids under five.
Natalie also explained that it takes the couple an hour and a half to 𝑓𝑒𝑒𝑑 all four babies, adding that as soon as they go to sleep she is counting down until the next feed.
She has also shared a post-baby photo, crediting her ‘amazing’ body for carrying her quads.
The proud mum wrote: “Every time I look back at these photos they honestly BLOW MY MIND! Isn’t the human body AMAZING? Like seriously!
She still talks about the pregnancy as being a “miracle” and recently shared a picture of the giant placenta online.
