MYLA’S MEDAL At the British Transplant Games, a 2-year-old girl who had a new liver saved her life as a baby takes home a silver medal

Laura’s best friend Naedean Marshall donated part of her liver to save Myla

A TWO-year-old whose life was saved by a new liver as a baby has scooped a silver medal at the British Transplant Games.

Myla Duffey, who won second place in her obstacle race event, is shown below getting ready with her mother.

It was a proud moment for parents Laura and Liam Duffey, both 31, who were told their daughter might not live to see her first birthday after she was born with damaged bile ducts.

Myla’s only hope of survival was a transplant so Laura’s best friend, Naedean Marshall, donated part of her liver.

At the event in Abingdon, Oxon, Laura, from Stirling, central Scotland, said: “We were shocked to learn what was wrong with her.

“We didn’t know what the future was going to hold.

“It was terrifying.

They informed us that Myla wouldn’t make it to her first birthday if she didn’t receive a transplant.

“We couldn’t believe it when Naedean said she was willing to help.
