Gideon At the age of six months, Marcus Whitchurch is a healthy baby boy. He was born 39 days after his mother’s water unexpectedly broke in the 28th week of pregnancy, yet to parents Rachel and Jeff Whitchurch, he will always be remembered as their miracle child. They learned that they were having a second kid.
The couple was more than ready to have another son after five years and three miscarriages. Whitchurch’s water broke at only 28 weeks into her pregnancy. “I phoned the doctor and he said to come in right away, and I was thinking this can’t be happening,” she recalls thinking.
But it wasn’t the first time this had happened. Five years earlier while pregnant with her first son, TJ, Whitchurch’s water Broke at 35 weeks, this time Doctors told her that a birth at 28 weeks could mean Serious Complications.
Dr Jennifer Ashton said:” When a woman Breaks her water so far from her Due date the No. 1 concern is Infection. It is Literally a race against time.”
Doctors put Rachel on bed rest in the Hospital and gave her Steroids to help the baby’s Lungs grow. She was also given Me.dication to Stop the Contractions. The Doctors told the couple that every day the baby could stay ɪɴsɪᴅᴇ Rachel was worth 3 days he wouldn’t have to spend in the.
Only 5 percent of women are Able to keep their baby inside them for seven days after their water Breaks, Whitchurch said Doctors told her, and that 10 days would be a Miracle. In the Hospital on bed rest, Whitchurch kept holding on for 39 days, longer than anyone thought possible.
After Rachel spent five weeks in the Hospital. On April 3, 2013, Gideon Marcus Whitchurch was born Via C-S.ection at 33 weeks , weighing 3 pounds. He’s now a Stable 6 month old with a mother who believes her Struggle was well worth it. Mom Rachel said:”That first night, it was just amazing because we would stop and say. Wait, listen, there’s no Beeps! We could hold our baby! There is no Cord on him!. We could finally be together as a family.”
